Laughter Effects brings smart, original & likable standup comedy to Portland Maine, with shows in interesting, comfortable and intimate venues. Unlike a traditional comedy club experience, we have no 2-drink minimums or table servers rushing around the showroom. We aim to provide a high quality standup comedy club-equivalent experience, but maybe better! We bring excellent, accomplished and refreshingly creative standup comedy headliners from Boston, New York and other cities and towns to right here, Portland Maine, for your comedy enjoyment.
Our headliner comedians have appeared at select comedy festivals including the Boston, Limestone, Rogue Island, Burbank, Asheville, and many other festivals. They have performed at and headlined top clubs in Boston, NYC and other cities. We work to bring comedians of diverse backgrounds and experiences, who are using the art and craft of standup comedy to do something more than the easiest, most down the middle and done-to-death premises and jokes. We like standup comedy that is truly laugh out loud funny, but more important to us than laughs-per-minute is an act that is memorable, interesting, provocative and intelligent.
