UPCOMING SHOWS Our Laugh Sanctuary shows are currently once a month in the First Parish UU Church Community Room, presented in conjunction with Ghanekar’s Moniker. We have brought highly creative and accomplished headliners for these shows, including Al Park and Andrew Mayer- both of whom happen to have been winners of the prestigious and nationally important Boston Comedy Festival competition, and Sam Miller, a distinguished act from the Pacific Northwest who is gaining a committed following with his raw yet likable, vulnerable tales of his life hard lived.
We have worked to create a fun, cool and conducive atmosphere for standup comedy in the lower level Community Room of the historic and architecturally significant First Parish UU Church in downtown Portland Maine. We are fans of a quality ambience for a comedy show, and part of that is effective lighting and sound. We have worked to establish the right tech and setup to transform an all purpose space in a church basement into a place discriminating connoisseurs of entertaining nightlife and standup comedy would want to spend part of their Saturday night.
We are able to offer a nice variety of liquid refreshments at very reasonable suggested donations. The Laugh Sanctuary show venue features a comfortable spacious upstairs lobby area upon entry, as well as numerous restrooms available to audience members. Our Recreational Comedy shows are currently two Wednesdays a month in the highly unique, visually interesting and intimately arranged Core Social Justice Cannabis Museum in downtown Portland Maine.
These shows feature some of the finest Maine, Portland area and occasionally out of state comedic talent. They are free- No Cover- and liquid refreshments are available for sale by the museum.
